China’s Ambassador to the United Nations, Fu Cong, has said that the wording and timing of the United States’ draft resolution in the Security Council on the Strait of Hormuz are inappropriate.
He warned that, at this delicate moment, both sides should be encouraged to enter into serious, good-faith negotiations rather than be pushed toward confrontational measures.
He added that moving forward with a resolution under these circumstances would be counterproductive and unlikely to help defuse the situation.
